Montreal Day 4 & 5

Saturday was leaving day. Got up and ready and it was looking like it was going to rain. Checked out and tried to pay for parking but couldn't find where you paid (or the car) so had to go back to the desk and reask for directions (again the signage could be alot better for parking and where to go). We found the pay parking area and then the car. It was about noon. Found the bar/pub street again and had so many choices to eat from so we saw the Hard Rock Cafe and went in there. Actually sat outside then it started to pour so we moved inside. Went out after we ate and it was still pouring and thunder and lightening. Ran to the car and I got out my map trying to guide us back to the tunnel to go home....I suck at reading that monteal map. Pete knew were we were going but I told him to turn off somewhere so he listened and it was the wrong way. He told me he thought he knew where he was going so I told him to not listen to me then. (ferry ride) I have no idea what I was doing or where we were going so I just sat back and let him drive and low and behold there was the tunnel that we needed.

The drive back was good. We got lost once. I think we took the exit to quebec. we went over a huge bridge and then drove into a downtown area and looking again for a tims and couldn't find one so we tried to find the highway again and after about 1/2 hour driving around we found it.
We made it back to Edmunston and it was the hugest thunder and lighting storm I have ever seen....no camping for us that night. We decided to drive to frederiction that night but then nearer Edmunston the rain was so much that we couldn't see 2 feet in front of us so we stopped at the Comfort Inn (which we get corporate rates there with Harris & Roome). We watched a movie that night and then went to bed (well I fell asleep around 9pm) not sure about him.

Got up (Sunday) and got ready and I told him that breakfast was surved till 10am so we were ready for that then I read the book which i read the night before as well and in the morning if said breakfast was only served till 9am so when he got out of the shower I broke gave him the bad news that our free breakfast was past the serving time (again I told him not to listen to me, has he not learned his lesson yet).

We found a restuarnt that served breakfast so we ate there. I think the only meals we ate in Montreal was Breakfast and the rest we just had icecream or something. A guy at work said I would come back 15lbs heaveir from eating all the french food but I came back lighter. I think my stomache shrunk cause in edmunston before we left the hotel I ate 3 timbits and then once I got to the restuarnt I ordered a bagel and I couldn't even eat 1/2 of it....thats weird for me.

Anyway after breakfast was over we headed home. We were going to stop in to Fredericton to see his friends but he wasn't sure if they moved there yet from Moncton or not so we kept going. We stopped into Moncton at Maganic Hill and did that and went to the zoo. Got back to Halifax probably around 7-8 i think. It was a wonderful trip. I had so much fun.

I have to admit that I was a little worried about going with Pete, just because of some stuff I heard about him and that he always goes out and parties and stuff like that so I told him before we left that he could not leave me alone whatso ever. And I was impressed with some things I found out about him and all those stories arn't completly true. Hes a great guy to hang around and we both had a great time. He did the stuff I wanted to do and he didn't mind not going out and just walking around.

Monday was a day of rest for us. I went tanning and thats about it.

And that Tuesday it was back to the grindstone...and has been ever since. Its only been about a month but I need another vacation...hahaha. Luckly this weekend is a long one. I think we're going to the fireworks tomorrow night and doing some tanning if its warm.

Well these last couple of posts I did all in one night so now I'm beat and it is 12:12am....gotta run.

Montreal Day 3

Friday morning we both got up later...got ready by lunch and then set off to walk around once more. We found some malls and spent the whole day there. Pete did some shopping, I carried his bags. Around 4 we went to a movie and watched "Pirates of the Carriaben" (did you know that pirates really existed? Their not just non fictional). So after that I still thought it was about 4 (did i think time stopped in the movie?). We walked past our street for the hotel and walked up the other way cause we've never been up that way and low and behold we found the club/pub street. So we decided to go back to the hotel and eat and then go out that night cause we didn't the night before. We got back to the hotel and it was like 8pm...I didn't realize it was that late. So we got showered and changed and got ready and we decided to eat at the hotel as we were there all week but didn't eat there so the restuarant closed at 1030 and we went down at 10pm to eat (who eats supper at 10pm?). We walked in and there was 1 other couple there and out of the whole resturant they set us at the next table. Why???

So it was one of those fancy restuarnts that had the classical music playing in the background and you felt like you had to wisper when you talked. We ordered and then while we were waiting pete showed me the classiy type that he is.. He looked at me and said "Wanna arm wrestle?" and i looked at him and said "arm wrestle? in here? have some class man". We had a good laugh over that. Got our supper (pasta stuff) and it was good. We felt like we had to eat fast so we could get out by the time it closed but of couse they waited for us to finish which wasn't too much past closing time.

Got back to the room and figured out where we should go and then go to talking about some of the rumors I heard about him at work and all the stories and looked at the clock and it was about 2-3am (heard lots of stories) so going out was again not going to happen.

Day 3 was over.

Monteal Day 2

Thursday was Bon Jovi concert day. Pete got up and went to the gym. I lazed in bed. Got up and ready by 10am and went for breakfast then went for a walk. We ended up in "the villiage" which is the gay part of Monteal...and you can tell cause even in the shop windows was gay mens clothes. So we got out of there pretty quick.

Went back down by the waterfront and took an Amphobous tour (harbour hopper) which was fun and I made a friend with a little girl, she kept asking her mom if she had an elastic so she could put her hair up and her mom didn't and of course being the nice lady that I am I gave her one of mine. She was a very pretty little girl.

Well it was nearing concert time so we were debating on weather to take the ferry or the metro over to the park where Bon Jovi was going and it was nice out so I suggested the ferry. We got the tickets and boarded the ferry. We were nearing the island and the ferry was passing the island and I was panicing cause I swear I asked for tickets to the island but we wern't stopping there we were going right by it. So the ferry docked elsewhere so me and Pete got off (we should have realized what was going on as we were the only ones who got off..which i thought was only logical as i didn't think we were going to the island as we went right by it). So we got off and I was so upset cause I had no idea how we were to get to the island so we asked a lady and she worked with the ferry and she said that we wern't surposed to get off the ferry that the island was the next stop (now in the map that we had it showed two different ferry crossings..one was straight to the island and one was around the island so i figured we went on the wrong one but no the map was wrong....its all the same ferry ride it just shows 2 different things on the map). Anyway we went back to the ferry and the captain was tapping his watch and looking at us, he of couse knew we wern't surposed to get off but let us anyway, so luckly he waited for us and we proceeded to the island. got off the ferry, found a washroom and then waited in line for the concert. It was a pretty long line but once the gates opened it didn't take that long. There was a guy trying to sell tickets to the people in line and I'm thinking "why would we be standing in line without tickets? Go out side the concert line to sell them". Anyway there was a guy selling water so we bought 4 of them. Was drinking some in the line and still had some left when we got to the gate with 2 in my bag. Well they searched the bags but they only searched for bottles of water. They took the water out of my bag, took the caps off them and then gave me back the open bottles of water....so we each were carrying 2 open bottles of water....what was the point of that? I have no idea why they did that. So i threw out my water as I wasn't carrying around open water with no cap to cover it.

so got in and got some food which was really good, took a seat on the hill and then waiting for the concert to start. There was quite a few people there. It was an amazing concert. I had so much fun. There was a band that played that were probably local or something and then nickelback came on and I started to need the bathroom so I went to use it (porterpotties) and I came back and Pete went and then he came back and I went so it kept going like that till Bon Jovi came on. Pete was in line for the washrooms at that time so I grabbed our stuff and waited in line with him and used it again then we both went up closer to the stage. I got as close as we could to the gate. they had 2 gates I guess...one was up to the stage (and those must have been the Vips or whatever) and then they had another gate and thats where we were. I love Bon Jovi and all but I don't know all of his songs and of couse he played at the first the one I didn't know...then he started singing the ones I did. Man just seeing Bon Jovi in person was awesome. He rocks.

I wanted to go to the souviner tent but the line up as huge the whole time the concert was going on so I didn't get anything.

When the concert was over we followed the rest of the people to the metro as the ferry was shut down by then. Waiting for the metro Pete had to use the washroom as he had beer and he held it the whole time Bon Jovi was on. There are a billion people who use that metro station and we assumed that there would be washrooms in there...but no. So we had to wait for the 2nd train as the 1st one packed up pretty fast. We asked the train guy that was just standing around where the closest bathroom was and he said the 1st stop that the train stops at on the 3rd floor....so we got on the train and got off at the 1st stop and walked to the 3rd floor, there was no washroom, I think by this time Pete was needing a pee so bad that he was in pain (i've had that feeling before and its horriable...but I still couldn't help but laugh). So we asked the security on the 3rd floor where the washroom was and one didn't understand and the other said she thought it was 1 or 2 more floors up.....so up we went. We had to ask another lady and finally we found him a washroom...poor guy, it was quite funny.

So after the washroom fiasco we went outside to go home but we were lost. We walked and walked and finally got out the map and sat on a bench and tried to figure out where we were. these 2 guys were walking and asked us if we where lots and we said "you bet". I guess one of them used to work at a hotel so he felt bad for us and showed us on the map where our hotel was and where we were and told us how to get back. He said it would only be a 15 minute walk, and hour and a half later we found the hotel. We were going to go out that night to the clubs that the guys told us the english people hung out at but after the 2 hour walk we were beat...so off the bed we went.

Day 2 was over.

Montreal day 1

Well its been almost a month since Montreal and I figured I should probably write about it but its old news now.
Tuesday morning we were to leave at 10am but Pete had a dentist appt. and didn't show up here till 11am and then he wanted to wash his car so we didn't get out of Halifax till about 1130 or so. Anyway the night before I was packing and I repacked cause I thought I was taking too much stuff with me that I probably didn't need so I just had a suitcase bag and a backpack and I thought that was alot but when Pete opened his trunk there was no room for my stuff cause he had the biggest suitcase I have ever seen and it was full of his clothes. I nearly died as my experince with guys is that they can fit their clothes in a duffel bag for like a month....but not him. He thought like a girl as he didn't know what to take so he took it all....its was pretty funny, thats when I knew we would get along on the trip ok.

Anyway arrived in Edmunston around suppertime that night to camp....THUNDER AND LIGHTING!!!! I thought I got over the thunder and lighting when we had to set up the tent in it but on the way back I did not as we ran into it again. Anyway after the tent was up we took out the fishing poles and went fishing. I caught something and we're not sure what type of fish it is and even the campground owner never seen one like that before and he had a fish book. Anyway we decided to clean it and cook it over the campfire but we opened it up and it was pure bone so that went in the garbage (and the furthest one away from our tent incase the bears or some animals smelt it and came out of the woods). So we decided to cook some hotdogs and marshmellows. Now getting the campfire was such a big job when it didn't half to be. Pete brought some wood from home that was sitting at their house for a while and we lit it but it wouldn't stay lit so we drove to the first store we seen (about 10p0m it was) and they were french and didn't understand what we were looking for so we found some BBQ charcoal stuff that said all you had to do was light the bag so we bought that and threw it in the firepit and of course Pete didn't even read the instructions and tore off the peice that you had to light so he just lit the bag and it burnt but we just had coals so we gave up and bought some firewood from the campground (only $6) and low and behold we had fire so we could eat (it was around 12pm by now) and guess what....the fire was still going when we got up at 6am. I have to tell you about the bathrooms....usually campgrounds have then old public shower washrooms and stuff but this campground had 4 bathrooms (2 women, 2mens) and they were private. You walked into it and there was a toilet, sink and then a stand up shower in it....it was really nice. I was impressed cause thats what I was worried about. Anyway were were on the road I think by 7am and we didn't see a Tim Hortons till about 2 hours later...in that time we had to stop at a gas station for coffee and after we did that we saw a Tim's.

Arrived in Montreal around 2 or 3 (was 1 hour behind) and I took travel and tourism and all but I could not read the map...I was so confused. Pete saw the hotel and we kept driving past it and there was only one way to the front doors but we coudn't get to that street cause everytime we did it was all oneways...but we eventually got there. It said on the hotel website that there is Valet parking so we said great we'll do that. We pulled up and got out and the bellman came over and got our stuff and then Pete said is there Valet parking and they said "you can park it yourself around the corner" so we got back in and went around the corner and parked it ourselves. Got in the elevator in the parking garage and pressed the hotel button floor so we got out of the elevator and it wasn't on the lobby floor so we had to walk around and try to find an elevator for that and there were some other people there that couldn't find it either...but we all eventually did...they need better markings.

Checked in and Pete took a little nap and then we went out walking around looking. We went to the tourist beareau and the lady asked us what we're interested in and we said anything but museams so she said she'd be right back with some stuff....and guess what there was to do...yep Museaums....so she was a BIG help.

We walked around and saw some carriage rides and thought that would be fun so we got on a horse and carriage around Old Montreal which was very nice. The driver was telling us a bunch of stuff about old montreal but I couldn't hear it but that was ok cause I was just along for the ride...I didn't really care about the info.

After that we went down to the waterfront which is nice as well and there was fireworks at 1000-1030pm which is actually going on all summer, its a bunch of countries competeing on the best fireworks and while we were there Portugal was showing their's...fireworks are all the same. So killing time till then we went to the Imax 3d thing and saw Under the ocean or deep sea or something like that. it was my first 3d movie and it was quite interesting.

Got out of there and walked around for about and hour and then got our spot for the fireworks and of couse it was past my bedtime so i rubbed my eyes and low and behold one of my contacts fell out on the ground somewhere and it was pitch black so I was watching with one eye...how fun was that. I should always carry my glasses or another set of contacts with me...I never learn. Anyway after the fireworks we watched (me one eyed) a few busker type things and then tried to find the hotel. I think we walked for about 3 hours before we found it. We had to stop for a coffee on the way back. It really wasn't that far away but it was our first night there and it was dark so we had no idea where we were and I had to trust Pete to find our way as I was half blind....eventually we made it back.

Day 1 was over.
