Some Good News
We did not end up throwing the football around on Saturday. I think I studied..not sure...its been such a long time that I forget. We did go to the parade of lights which was an awesome evening except for the service at the Fife and Drum. It started off great but then we lost our waiter and the ones we asked stuff to didn't really help us either....and neither did the manager. We were home by 10pm I think. It was a good evening. It wasn't as cold as the past couple of years. My toes got frozen a bit and then I moved them around and got them warm again. Me and Jo got Vanilla Bean hot chocolate...YUMMY!!
Sunday I couldn't go anywhere cause of the car so I studied a bit and then watched some T.V.
Monday we had an appt. with Petro can for the car at 8am and we didn't want to drive it down in rush hour traffic so I got up at 630am and took it down.(little did I know that just up the street there was a standoff with police). Lyd took the keys to them when she went to work at 8am and they drove it around and said that it wasn't doing anything so they said they would take out the spark plugs (or something like that) and put them on the scanner. Lyd didn't hear anything else by lunch so she went over and they said they took it for another drive and it still wasn't acting up so they said there was nothing wrong with it. I don't think they put it on the scanner cause they didn't charge us for anything. Yeh so guess what....THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT!!! Cause it still acts up on us. Lyd stalled 3 times today going out of our parking lot, but once it gets going its fine. A couple of people at work said to spray WD40 on the spark plugs and see if that does anything. So me and Lyd bought some today and I took it over to Bill tonight and we couldn't find the spark plugs (I think they're hidden). So if its not pouring tomorrow I might ask Gary (one of my supers) to show me where they are. Hes great.
Did I mention my little "situation" at work?
When I was first hired way back in March I was told that after 6 months I get a review of my job and salary. So after 7 months I asked HR as no one came to me about it, and she told me to go to one of my supers, so I did. And she told me she doesn't like doing them...so she let it go for another month. I went into her office on Friday to remind her I had a vacation day on Monday and then she proceeded to do my reveiw there. It was a great review. She said that I was doing a fantastic job (although she said she still has no idea what I do) and that they were impressed with my work ethic and all that stuff. Then she proceeded to tell me that when at the interview when they said after 6 months i would get a salary reveiw that thats not what they ment. They ment that I would get one in February 1/06 when the rest of everyone got their yearly one (and by feb. I would have been there for 11 months). So I was not very happy with this as I was told by HR and the GM that after 6 months they would review it. So I got up my courage today first thing this morning and went to my super's boss (and the comptroller) and told him the situation and he said that its true that I should get one after 6 months and again in Feb. He said he would look into it for me.
Lunch time he told me he had to talk to the GM and then he would let me know.
At the end of the day he called me into his office and told me that the GM agrees that I should get one. So as of right now I did get a raise (starting next check) and I will get another in February with the rest of the people. He apologized that I had to go through all this. I know 2 other people who had to do this as well. He is a very nice man. So thats, that.
We played squash tonight. We didn't run down cause it was raining. (such a pity). It was very fun as usual.
No idea what the weekend holds but I hope it clears up so we can do the car.
Next day off is Dec.5 for some xmas shopping.
